18 U.S.C. § 2257 Exemption Statement

Last updated Version draft-2026-10

Draft — pending legal review

This document is a working draft written for Feever. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may change before launch. Highlighted tokens such as {{COMPANY_NAME}} are placeholders for company details that are still to be confirmed.

Feever is an adults-only service for chatting with fictional AI characters. This statement explains Feever’s position under the U.S. record-keeping law for sexually explicit imagery, and who to contact about it.

1. Our statement

All characters on Feever are AI-generated and fictional. No real person is depicted in any image, video or other visual content that Feever produces or publishes. The images and videos on Feever are created by artificial intelligence from text instructions and settings. They are not photographs or recordings of real people, and no real performer takes part in making them.

18 U.S.C. §§ 2257 and 2257A, and the regulations under them (28 C.F.R. Part 75), require producers of certain sexually explicit images of real people to keep records proving that every person shown is at least 18 years old. Because Feever’s content does not depict actual human beings engaged in sexually explicit conduct, these record-keeping requirements do not apply to it, and Feever does not hold performer age-verification records for its characters.

Draft

This is a working draft pending legal review. Counsel must confirm the exact wording of this statement, and the custodian details, before it is relied on.

2. Every character is an adult

Separately from the law above, every character on Feever must be an adult: 18 or older in every description, backstory and image. Characters who are, or appear to be, under 18, or whose age is unclear, are not allowed, whether we created them or a member did. See the Content & Community Policy for the full rule and what happens when it is broken.

  • Official characters are created and reviewed by Feever.
  • Characters that members create are private to the member who made them, must follow the same rules, and can be reviewed and removed.
  • We use automated checks and human review to find content that does not follow the rules, and we act on reports quickly.

3. No real people

Feever does not allow members to publish real people’s photographs or recordings as characters. We do not allow content that uses a real person’s name, face, voice or likeness without their consent, and we remove it when we find it or are told about it. If you think a real person is depicted on Feever, please report it or see our Complaints & Content Removal policy.

If we ever offered a feature that used real people’s images or recordings, we would first need to put in place the legal compliance steps that law requires for that content, and we would update this statement.

4. Custodian of records

For the avoidance of doubt, and if a record-keeping duty were ever found to apply, records would be kept at the following address by the custodian of records:

{{CUSTODIAN_OF_RECORDS}}

Company: {{COMPANY_NAME}}, {{COMPANY_ADDRESS}}.
